Clicker Training Information and Scheduling!
In our never ending effort to strengthen the bond of parrots and their handlers, The Parrot and Bird Emporium is offering Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced Clicker Training Courses! These courses outline the importance of positive reinforcement training, and bridge the communication gap between parrot and owner. Each class details the importance of trust, behavior analasis, and setting up our birds, and ourselves, to succeed!
The classes come in three levels:
- Beginner: In this class we focus on building a foundation of trust with positive reinforcement. Behavior analasis is explored, with emphasis on truly understanding our companions and using the clicker to enforce desirable behaviors.
- Intermediate: Now that you've gotten the basics, you'll be ready to break down behaviors and shape your individualized training plan while continuing to build trust and experience.
- Advanced: At this level both you and your bird should feel comfortable and confident with the clicker, ready to set even higher goals! Complex tricks and behaviors are encouraged here.
During each individualized training session extra care and attention is paid to each student, and the training process is customized to behaviors you wish to encourage in your bird. From encouraging more pleasing noises in replacement of screaming, to maneuvering an obstacle course, no goal is too big or too small!
Pricing and Details
- Classes are $99 for six sessions, and meet on Sunday mornings at the Parrot and Bird Emporium.
- When you arrive at class, you will be given a targeting stick, clicker, handouts for reference, and written material to suppliment the classes.
- Very trained instructors with over 20 years of combined experience.
- Classes can fill up quickly. Calling ahead to inquire or reserve a space is recommended.

The Parrot and Bird Emporium offers for the companion parrot owner. Classes include Parrot 101 and Avian Nutrition, Clicker Training Classes for both beginner and intermediate, Cooking for your Bird, and a variety of topics covering training and behavior issues.
When a customer purchases a bird from the store, the new bird owner is invited back for 1-on-1 sessions of clicker training. Clicker training is an effective way to teach your parrot how to behave in an acceptable way and is a form of communication that can truly bridge the gap between owner and parrot. It uses positive reinforcement and the results are quick and impressive. Parrots without behavioral problems will love it and owners of problem parrots will be delighted at the ease with which they can effect change in their feathered friends.
